South Tyrol: A Guarantee of Snow under the Sun

Winter is always a big success in the Tauferer Ahrntal Valley

It's been a tough year. We've earned our time off. But just any vacation in any ski resort won't do. We've done a good job. Now all we want is the best. Bright sun shining from sunrise to sunset, snow-white slopes and breathtaking ski-runs - for skiers and snowboarders, for freestylers and freeriders. And to top it all off a couple of Nordic Sports areas! That would be perfect! An all-round winter sports arena where the keyword is variety: from easy to challenging. Every winter day is a brand new experience. All this exists! Welcome to the Tauferer Ahrntal Valley, the winter fun paradise right in the heart of the Rieserferner National Park. Surrounded by 80 peaks all over 3,000 meters in altitude, this snow-covered valley opened on the southern balcony of the Zillertaler Alps between the Hohen Tauern and the Dolomites blends together pure winter charm with ultramodern facilities for all of the hippest winter sports. All this without ever cutting back on its deep-rooted traditions: on the contrary, the snow, cliffs and blue skies blend perfectly into a magical potion that revives the body and soul, thought and emotions. Everyone will find here what they are looking for: adrenalin-hungry sports fanatics on the hunt for unique experiences, ordinary people seeking an escape from everyday life to relax in the midst of the winter silence – and merry families who have their minds set on one thing only: having a fun holiday together.

On pole at the start of winter: marvelous ski-runs where snow is always guaranteed
Under deep-blue skies, opposite peaks towering more than 3,000 meters high, 45 km of sun-drenched and well-maintained ski-runs and wild slopes in the Speikboden und Klausberg ski resorts will make the hearts of Alpine sports fanatics race as they swerve down into the valley. 2008 Winter News: the 8-passenger Alm-Express cableway will carry beginners and children safely to the top of the sun-drenched ski trails. Skiers of all levels will quickly find their favorite ski-run – from blue to black and even off-piste trails. And to improve your style and skill, a whole team of well-trained ski and snowboard instructors is ready to help you at the Speikboden, Klausberg and Rein ski schools. The Olympic athletes of tomorrow can learn to ski while playing at the Mini Ski Club and Junior Club.

In the meantime the fast-growing number of Nordic sports fans can have fun along the 100 km of well-maintained cross-country ski runs in Kasern, Mühlwald-Lappach, Weißenbach or Rein – and enjoy the magical blend of physical activity and enchanting nature. Ski and snowshoe mountaineers will appreciate the white stillness of the snow-capped woods and enchanted valleys and even the younger ones will learn to rediscover nature by making snowmen, coasting and romping in the powdery snow away from the noise and traffic.
